Launch of Your School, Your Choice!

Launch of _Your School, Your Choice!_

Enrolling in NYC public high schools is an overwhelming and difficult process. There are over 600 schools students can choose from and not all of them may be the right one. Many immigrant students and their families don’t know that they have the right to ask for help in their language, and that there are specific programs and resources to help the student succeed. Choosing the wrong school puts immigrant students, already struggling with a new language and culture, at a higher risk of dropping out of high school.

Our newest project, Your School, Your Choice!, created with Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project and designer Njoki Gitahi, launched yesterday at a student-led press conference at Flanbwayan. The multilingual poster is a step-by-step guide that highlights the rights and resources for immigrant students and their families enrolling in NYC public high schools.
