Printing power: Red Hook project kicks off!

Printing power: Red Hook project kicks off!

We’ve kicked off our latest collaboration with the Red Hook Community Justice Center!

Thanks to the generous donations of CUP’s supporters, students have been hard at work investigating police accountability in their communities and reimagining what public safety could look like. In collaboration with Teaching Artist Marianna Olinger, students are using art activities to process their own experiences with police and learning how to create their own documentary film to interview a range of stakeholders working on these issues.

After a crash course on how to screenprint at home, students recently made their own screenprints inspired by their neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Over the next few weeks, students will continue their artmaking and interview local leaders to create a short film that shares what they’ve learned. Stay tuned for more updates on the project!
