Kit What Is Affordable Housing?

This interactive workshop tool breaks down New York City’s affordable housing policy with easy-to-understand visuals. A felt chart lets communities look at income demographics, rents, and proposed developments in their neighborhoods. The toolkit’s modules can be used to configure a workshop focused on your group’s specific organizing goals. The illustrated guidebook explains New York’s affordable housing programs and who is eligible to use them, and provides step-by-step instructions on how to run a workshop.

CUP developed the toolkit with designer Glen Cummings and an advisory board of local organizations. The toolkit is in use by over 45 community organization and advocacy groups across New York City and beyond. Get yours today!

You can also hire CUP to conduct a workshop for your group.

The Guidebook is available separately, and in Spanish!

CUP is committed to helping housing advocates, community boards, and others teach their constituents about land use and development. This toolkit is available at the subsidized price of $100 for community-based groups. Contact info(at)welcometocup.org for more information and to find out if you qualify.
